Can U Bear To Sea It

June 29, 2012

The concept for this piece was created during a 7-day boat tour into Great Bear Rainforest, home to spirit bears, whales, wolf packs, grizzlies and many other creatures.

The piece itself shows a salmon trout head on the bottom, symbolized by the ovoid under the whale tail.

Along the journey, Ben got to be a close part of an interaction of a mother bear and her cub. Being that close to those animals made him realize, that the humans in the previously drawn sketch needed to be replaced by the two bears. Since this piece shall create awareness to Enbridges ongoing northern gateway pipeline project, it reminds us, that these creatures could be impacted should there ever be an oil spill. The salmon will be destroyed, in turn destroying all the other creatures, therefore humans have no right to be in this piece.
